Evanston Running Club... active since 1973!

Characters Welcome!

THE SMLR (or 'smeller')

We start at Northwestern University’s SPAC facility, No. Campus Dr. at the end of Lincoln Ave., by the lake Find the Route here: Gmaps Pedometer - you can use your cursor to "follow" the route along the lakeshore or use the +/- buttons to zoom in/out. (When there is a LOT of snow on the ground, we run a shorter route around the NU Campus - Find the Route here: Gmaps Pedometer)

Join/Renew on-line   or use the ERC APPLICATION!

Winter Rules: 8 AM - from early October

We have Pace Group Leaders!

OUR MOTTO: NOBODY RUNS ALONE!

The 2008 ERC Member Survey showed that a primary benefit is “running with other people.” To encourage more members and friends to come out and run, now you know there will be somebody to run with!

We’re talking approximate paces and a variety of distances – Group 1: 8 min/mi or faster, Group 2: ~ 8-9 min/mi or Group 3: ~ 9+ min/mi. For questions or to sign up as a Pace Leader, please contact Nichelle Pajeau, who does a great job organizing all this!

The Pace Leaders (along with their typical paces and distances, but these will vary as racing demands and fellow runners' needs dictate!) are:

  • Group 1: Jason Schoenfelder (7:30mm, 10-12 mi) and Tim Guimond (8:00mm and 8-10-12 or more mi & training for Boston)
  • Group 2: Chuck Janczy (9mm, 6-8 mi) and Al White (8:30mm and 6-8 mi)
  • Group 3: Nichele Pajeau (10mm, 8-10 mi) and Greg Seeger (10mm, 8-10 mi)

So, no excuses now, come on out and run!

FALL MARATHON TRAINING SCHEDULE

For those of you training for Chicago or another Fall marathon, we have integrated a variation of Hal Higdon's 18-week training schedule into our SMLR.  Jason Schoenfelder and Amarpal Matharu have created a SCHEDULE that provides weekly target distances for BOTH beginner and experienced runners, annotating the mileage markers for the SMLR route... check it out!
